What MagShare needs

Beyond funding and some member support, what MagShare needs is a website. A clean and basic website that allows community members to create a profile page, update what they read and get in the mail, update their reading status and when they are done, and chat with interested swappers.

What do you guys think? A sample profile (i.e. what mine would like) to come soon...

The Concept

If anyone follows the news related to sustainability, ideas about sharing on a communal level comes up. To share breaks down the almost essential need to be capitalistic, to want what is new, current, of the moment.

So as some semi to fully hippy groups have chosen to create shares of food, communal tables, clothes, books (like in the library), etc. This is not a new idea but I thought .. why not magazines?

There is very little that is less sustainable than a magazine. They are read, enjoyed, and either thrown away or recycled. I have thought about this before but never really seriously until a few nights ago when offering the last bits of the newspaper to my friend she offered to swap her Atlantic for my New York Times Magazine and thus an idea was born!

This blog will host me, and a few others, sharing the magazines they have and are willing to share and each person can send a message or post an interest in the magazine. A place will be assigned and swapping will be begin. By the end of each month the magazines will start fresh and the process will begin again.

Happy Sharing!
